welcomeThe Doctors and Staff of The Shaftesbury Practice would like to welcome you to Abbey View Medical Centre. We moved into our purpose built medical centre, which offers first class facilities for the provision of medical care, in January 1996. The information contained in this website should allow you to understand the organisation of the practice in order that you can access the services offered both freely and easily. The practice is part of the Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group.

Welcome
The practice is pleased to welcome Dr Malaika Hilhorst who works Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and Steph Maul, Nurse Practitioner who works full time. Both look forward to seeing our patients.
Appointments have changed, with effect from 11 June 2012
Following feedback from patients, the appointment booking process at Abbey View Medical Centre in Shaftesbury has been redesigned. The major change is a move to increase the numbers of appointments that are available for patients to pre-book if they want to see a GP.
The practice is open between 08.30 and 18.30 Monday to Friday and from 18.30 to 20.00 twice a week, either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. We also have a branch surgery in Fontmell Magna which is open 08.30 to 11.30 Monday to Thursday. To make an appointment to see a doctor in either surgery please see our “How to see your Doctor” page. The appointments desk is closed between 1 and 2pm every day.
If you need to make a routine telephone call to the surgery we would suggest that you try to leave your call until after 10.30 as the lines can be very busy before this time with patients contacting the appointments desk.
Please note, the surgery will be closed from 12 noon to 14.00 on the first Tuesday of the month for training purposes.
Important – Emergency – if you are very short of breath or are experiencing chest pain please dial 999.
